GREEN ENERGY DRIVES STS LOGISTIC

05.08.2021

In times of rapid technological development, renewable energy sources are an obligatory element of logistics chain equipment. STS Logistic meets the problem of excessive CO2 emissions. Despite the high energy demand, the goal is to constantly strive for climate neutrality.

STS Logistic consistently pursues its emission reduction goals. In its operations, the company uses electricity derived in 100% from renewable energy sources. Such functioning is enabled by a newly signed agreement with Glosbe – a company specializing in the sale of energy from RES. One of the main strategic goals of STS Logistic is to reduce the negative impact on the environment at the car distribution center in Swarzędz. At the same time, STS Logistic benefits from the investment in photovoltaic panels made at the end of 2019. On the roof of the reloading shed and logistics hall, 6,000 panels with a total capacity of almost 2 MW were installed. A PV installation enabling the conversion of solar energy into electricity and allowing the production of approximately 2000 MWh of green energy per year and fully covers the energy demand of STS Logistic. Surpluses are transferred to the network from which STS Logistic is supplied at night.

Thanks to this investment, STS Logistic has a positive impact on the environment, having a real impact on reducing greenhouse gas emissions, obtaining a CO2 emission avoidance coefficient of 720 tons in 2020.

In January 2021, STS Logistic made another milestone on the way to zero emissions by introducing the Energy Management System, which ended with obtaining the ISO 50001 certificate. Standard 50001 is a continuous implementation of proven and effective practices, enabling the company to continuously improve the energy result. The Energy Management System makes STS Logistic go beyond its own energy needs, taking into account external requirements and threats.

Paweł Szumski, Member of the Management Board of STS Logistic:

– As the leader of domestic and international forwarding transport, we are responsible for the environment, which motivates us to set an environmentally friendly direction of development. The key factor when making purchases is the energy efficiency index. The investments implemented in recent years, i.e. the purchase of 350 car transporters with the Euro 6 emission standard and a 2 MW photovoltaic installation, present an exemplary pro-ecological attitude.
